Bloggers I Follow: An Italian Cooking in the Midwest

PolaM from "An Italian Cooking in the Midwest"

This Sunday I would like to introduce to you another fellow expat: PolaM from “An Italian Cooking in the Midwest”. Pola hails, you guessed it, from Italy originally, and pretty much all of her posts are authentic Italian or Italian-inspired. Or, in her words, “Even when I cook Asian inspired dishes everything ends up being very Italian.” And that’s why I love reading her blog.

I began following her after “meeting” her on FoodBuzz precisely BECAUSE she had an ethnic niche, and even if she “just” blogs about a platter of Italian sausages and meats, it makes me want to hop in the car, drive to our favorite Italian store up north and fill my cart with them. While it has been years since I actually was in Italy, her posts bring back memories of a great time – and wonderful food.

Pola started blogging in order to capture what she was cooking, and later it morphed into a thing of its own. She has written about everything from gnocchi to great desserts, and she can even make grilled heart sandwich sound appealing (I have bookmarked that one, my husband will LOVE it). All of her posts are accompanied by lovely pictures.

When I asked her to describe herself, she came up with a long list of how NOT to describe her – and that must mean she is not your stereotypical Italian (what do you mean, you don’t wear red dresses and high heels?? :) ). I can certainly relate, as many people have told me over the years I was not what they had pictured a German to be.

So, head on over to Pola’s kitchen and see what’s cooking!
